1. Why Install as a Progressive Web App (PWA)?
Modern web browsers are fantastic for browsing, but keeping critical productivity tools trapped inside a sea of 50 open browser tabs leads to distraction, missed deadlines, and accidental tab closures.
DoneIsGood is engineered from the ground up as an installable Progressive Web App (PWA). Installing it delivers several key advantages:
- Independent App Window: Runs in its own dedicated, borderless window with zero browser address bars or navigation clutter.
- Instant Dock & Home Screen Launch: Launch DoneIsGood just like any native app from your iOS home screen, Android app drawer, Windows Taskbar, or macOS Dock.
- Full Offline Resilience: The built-in Service Worker caches core application assets and your profile data locally. You can review and manage your matrices even when disconnected from Wi-Fi or on airplane mode.
- OS-Level Device Push Notifications: Receive background task reminders, overdue alerts, and evening habit nudges directly on your device lock screen and notification shadeโeven when the app window is closed.
- Zero App Store Lag: You never need to wait for App Store or Google Play approval cycles; updates and new features deploy instantly in the background every time you open the app.

Follow the platform-specific instructions below to install DoneIsGood on your devices.
Mobile Devices
๐ฑ iOS (Apple Safari on iPhone & iPad)
Apple requires web apps to be installed through Safari to gain full PWA and notification capabilities.
- Open Apple Safari on your iPhone or iPad and navigate to your DoneIsGood URL.
- Tap the Share button in the bottom navigation bar (the square icon with an upward-pointing arrow).
- In the share sheet, scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen (look for the square icon with a
+symbol). - Verify the app title (
DoneIsGood) and tap Add in the top-right corner. - The DoneIsGood icon will appear on your Home Screen. Tap it to launch the app in full-screen standalone mode.
iOS Push Notifications Requirement: Apple introduced Web Push notifications starting in iOS 16.4. To receive device push notifications on iPhone or iPad, you must first add DoneIsGood to your Home Screen and launch it from the Home Screen icon before enabling notifications in settings.
๐ค Android (Google Chrome)
Android provides first-class support for Web APK installation with seamless app drawer integration.
- Open Google Chrome on your Android device and navigate to your DoneIsGood URL.
- An automatic install banner may slide up from the bottom of your screen. If so, simply tap Install.
- If no banner appears, tap the three-dot menu (
โฎ) in the top-right corner of Chrome. - Select Install app (or Add to Home screen).
- Confirm by tapping Install in the system dialogue.
- The app is now added to your home screen and Android App Drawer. It operates with a native splash screen and offline storage.
๐ค Android (Samsung Internet on Galaxy Devices)
If you use the Samsung Internet browser:
- Open Samsung Internet on your device and navigate to DoneIsGood (
doneisgood.com). - Look for the Install icon in the top address bar (a down arrow inside a square), or tap the Tools menu (
โฐin the bottom-right corner) and choose Add page to โ Home screen (or Install app). - Confirm by tapping Install (or Add).
Samsung Internet "Unsafe app blocked" warning (Watch the buttons!):
On modern Android versions (such as One UI 6, 7, and 8), Google Play Protect may show a pop-up saying:
"Unsafe app blocked โ This app was built for an older version of Android and doesn't include the latest privacy protections."
This is a false positive. Samsung Internet builds its app wrapper through Samsung's servers instead of Google's, and Samsung's packaging server targets an older Android framework version. The web app is completely safe.
How to complete the install:
- Do not tap the big blue "OK" button. Tapping the blue OK button cancels the installation and blocks the app!
- Instead, tap the text link that says "Install anyway" directly above the blue OK button. DoneIsGood will then install to your home screen and work normally.
- (Tip: You can also install via Google Chrome on Android to bypass this prompt altogether).
Desktop Computers
๐ช Windows (Microsoft Edge & Google Chrome)
Via Microsoft Edge:
- Open Microsoft Edge and navigate to your DoneIsGood URL.
- Look at the right side of the URL address bar: click the App available icon (three small squares and a plus sign).
- Alternatively, click the three dots (
...) in Edge's top-right corner โ Apps โ Install DoneIsGood. - In the installation prompt, click Install.
- When prompted by Windows, choose whether you want to pin DoneIsGood to your Taskbar, Start menu, or Desktop.
Via Google Chrome on Windows:
- Open Google Chrome and navigate to your DoneIsGood URL.
- Click the Install icon in the right side of the address bar (a computer monitor with a down arrow).
- If the icon isn't visible, click the three dots (
โฎ) in Chrome's top-right corner โ Save and share โ Install DoneIsGood... - Click Install. The app will launch in its own dedicated window and pin to your Taskbar.
๐ Mac (Google Chrome & Apple Safari)
Via Google Chrome on macOS:
- Open Google Chrome on macOS and navigate to DoneIsGood.
- In the right side of the URL omnibox, click the Install icon (computer monitor with a down arrow).
- Alternatively, click the Chrome menu (
โฎ) โ Save and share โ Install DoneIsGood... - Click Install. DoneIsGood will be added to your Mac's
~/Applications/Chrome Appsfolder and will automatically dock in your macOS Dock.
Via Apple Safari on macOS (macOS Sonoma 14 or later):
macOS Sonoma introduced native desktop Web App capabilities directly within Safari:
- Open Safari and navigate to DoneIsGood.
- In the top macOS menu bar, click File โ Add to Dock...
- Choose the app name and verify the icon, then click Add.
- DoneIsGood now exists as a dedicated Mac application in your Dock and Launchpad, with independent application switching (
Cmd + Tab), isolated window management, and native macOS badge support.
macOS Safari Web App Notification Permissions:
When running DoneIsGood as a Safari Web App (added to Dock), macOS manages notifications through macOS System Settings โ Notifications โ DoneIsGood. If notifications are toggled or enabled there, macOS requires you to fully Quit the app (
Cmd + Q) and relaunch it before the app process receives the updated notification entitlement.
If you are running macOS Ventura or earlier, Safari does not support "Add to Dock". Use Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, or Brave to install the PWA on older macOS releases.

- Screen Name:
- What it is: Your human-readable display name.
- Why it matters: This name appears in audit logs, task history trails, and on cards when collaborating in shared Project matrices so teammates know who created, updated, or finished a task.
- Primary Timezone:
- Why you should set it carefully: DoneIsGood uses your primary timezone to calculate midnight habit streak rollovers, scheduled task deadlines, morning email reminders, and AI schedule budgeting.
- Why choose your actual timezone over UTC: If your timezone is misconfigured, your daily habit checks may record under the previous or next day, and notifications might arrive during sleep hours.
- AI Assistant Preferences:
- Analyze tasks when I add them (Toggle):
- Why enable: When you create a task, the built-in Gemini AI immediately evaluates its title, recommending clarity improvements, sub-step breakdowns, and appropriate Eisenhower quadrant tags. Ideal for structured planners.
- Why disable: If you prefer rapid, ultra-fast task braindumping without suggestion modals interrupting your typing flow.
- Enable voice input for tasks (Toggle):
- Why enable: Allows you to dictate tasks and checklists using natural conversational speech. Especially useful on mobile PWAs when on the move.
- Analyze tasks when I add them (Toggle):
- Task Preferences:
- Hide future recurring tasks (1โ30 days out):
- Why enable (Recommended, default 3 days): The Eisenhower Matrix is designed to highlight urgent and important work. If you have 20 recurring tasks, cluttering your board with items that aren't due for two weeks can make you feel overwhelmed and panicked. Enabling this keeps your board clean until tasks are actually due.
- Why disable: If you want every future recurring task visible on your board for long-range planning.
- Hide future recurring tasks (1โ30 days out):
- Time Tracking Preferences:
- Auto-log time on completion (Toggle):
- Why enable: Traditional timesheets fail because having to manually start and stop stopwatch timers is annoying and easy to forget. When enabled, ticking off a task or checklist step automatically logs the time for you.
- Why disable: If you only work on fixed projects or prefer entering your hours by hand.
- Checklist Step Interval (6m, 15m, 30m, 45m, 60m): The default duration credited per checklist step (e.g. 15 minutes).
- Task Card Default Interval (15m to 2h): The default duration credited when finishing a whole task card that lacks a scheduled duration.
- Auto-log time on completion (Toggle):
- Habits Coach Email Settings:
- Daily Habits Email (Toggle): Receive an early-morning briefing of today's habits and priorities.
- Email Time (5:00 AM โ 10:00 AM): Adjust to match your morning wake-up routine.
- Coaching Style ("Tough Love" vs. "Encouraging"): Choose Tough Love for no-nonsense accountability that calls out missed streaks, or Encouraging for positive psychological reinforcement.
2. Theme & Appearance Settings
DoneIsGood provides independent theme selectors for Desktop and Mobile:
- Desktop Theme: Light, Dark, or System.
- Mobile Theme: Light, Dark, or System.
Why configure desktop and mobile independently?
- Eye Strain vs. Outdoor Glare: On a large desktop monitor during evening deep work, a rich dark interface minimizes eye fatigue. However, on a mobile phone outdoors in bright sunlight, a high-contrast Light mode or automatic System mode is significantly easier to read.
- OLED Battery Savings: Setting your mobile device to Dark mode maximizes battery life on OLED screens, even if you prefer a crisp Light theme on your office desktop monitor.
3. Alerts & Notifications Settings
The Alerts tab allows you to configure scheduled task reminders, overdue task sweeps, daily habit check-ins, and your automatic Saturday Weekly Digest across three delivery channels:
- In-App Bell Badge: Visual badges and dropdown alerts in the top app header.
- Device Push: OS-level banners delivered to your phone lock screen or desktop notification center.
- Email Alerts: Direct emails sent to your registered address with quick-action links.
Detailed Notification Guide: Configuring delivery channels, setting quiet hours, and troubleshooting OS permissions is covered in depth in our companion guide:
๐ Setting & Mastering Notifications: Alerts, Device Pushes & Weekly Digest. Please consult this guide for detailed push token setup and permission instructions.
4. Sync & External Integrations
- Google & Microsoft Calendar and Task Sync:
- Connect your Google account or personal Microsoft account to achieve 2-way synchronization.
- Scheduled tasks can automatically create calendar appointments in Google Calendar or Microsoft Outlook Calendar.
- Task lists synchronize 2-way with Google Tasks or Microsoft To Do (one active task provider at a time), keeping subtask steps and priority tags aligned.
- For full setup instructions, see Connecting Google & Microsoft Calendars and Tasks.
- Model Context Protocol (MCP) & Personal AI Agents:
- Generate secure Personal Access Tokens to connect external AI assistants (such as Claude Desktop, Cursor, Google Gemini, or ChatGPT) directly to your DoneIsGood tasks and habits.
- Fine-tune read/write permissions per matrix and activate an Emergency Pause switch whenever you want to restrict external AI write actions.
5. Account & Security Settings
- Email Verification: Check verification status and resend verification emails for password-based accounts.
- Download All My Data (GDPR): Instantly export your entire account historyโmatrices, tasks, steps, notes, habits, time logs, and contactsโin an open JSON format for backup or portability.
- Account Deletion: Permanently wipe your user data and authentication credentials in compliance with data privacy regulations.
